What is a Gristmill??From Wikipedia, the free encyclopediaA gristmill or grist mill is a building in which grain is ground into flour, or the grinding mechanism itself. The Gristmill described on this page is a Corn Gristmill setup by my father Willard Schubert This setup uses a 15 horse power 1922 Fairbanks Morse Z - Hit N Miss Gasoline Engine and a J.B. Deeds & Son Grist mill connected
The Gristmill contains two Millstones - one of which is stationary and the other is turned by the Fairbanks engine. The top of the grist mill has a hopper where shelled corn is stored and is gravity fed into the Gristmill.
The corn then falls between the two mill stones and it ground up and exits the left is where it is deposited onto the shaker / sieve. The
